EEA Nationals and Family

The EU Settlement Scheme

All EEA nationals and their family members at the time of BREXIT were invited to register with the EU Settlement Scheme and they were then granted either Pre-Settled or Settled status.

EU Pre-Settled Status
EEA nationals who had not been registered as living in the UK for 5 years at the point of application, were granted Pre-Settled Status, with the option to convert this to Settled Status.

EU Settled Status
This was grantd to EEA Nationals who has at least 5 years registered status in the UK at the point of application. This is similar to Indefinite Leave to Remain, with the main difference being that Settled Status allows for a 5 year absence from the UK before it is lost, whereas a non EU ILR can be lost after 2 years continuous absence.

Naturalisation
EEA Nationals holding Settled Status can apply to naturalise as a British citizen after 12 months.
